The Penn state football team has always been recognized as a top notch school not only for the players but for the great coach they had Joe Paterno. This school is a well recognized school for football; it is up there with schools like Oregon, usc, Alabama, Stanford, ect. As of lately they are not recognized for their accomplishments on the field but for their embarrassing and humiliating scandal that is going on with the former defensive coach jerry Sandusky. Jerry Sandusky was Penn states defensive coordinator for years up until his termination in 2002 due to allegations of molestation of several young boys. These allegations arose in 1999 about jerry Sandusky molesting young boys not only at his home but on Penn state campus as well! There was nothing really supporting these allegations so they just forbid Sandusky to have children at the campus, he did not comply. More stories of this happening not only arose but also had eye witnesses and more boys that are coming out and stating that this happened to them. So Sandusky was terminated immediately and revoked of his position of defensive coordinator in 2002. Now almost 10 years later this story has reached its peak not only with Sandusky fired but another defensive coordinator and the great Joe paterno is fired. They fired them because the grand jury and alleged claims state that they “knew what was happening but did not report to authorities”. So now with the court case going thru and Sandusky facing jail time and paterno and their defensive coordinator gone the football team still has to play and produce on what they are known for, winning football games. Yes, it is hard and people could say it is hard or how could they without Joe pa but Penn state is still winning football games and from what we can see for those 2 hours that thousands watch is it in the back of their minds and they proceed to be great. With the pressure that is put on them for just alone being Penn state they have a worldwide known case hovering over them. The team is still winning games and doing great so that just shows what kind of team they are and what type of team Joe paterno had and raised throughout the years.
